In the spring, in addition to cold air, changes in daily lifestyle affect medication use in some people with chronic diseases.

Some people may not stick to their regular sleep schedule or forget to take their medication. These changes can increase the risk of stroke for people with chronic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension.

Here are some tips to prevent strokes and exercises to protect your health during the upcoming Tet holidays:

✅Maintain a healthy diet

Avoid eating too much greasy, fried foods and foods rich in protein and fat during Tet. These substances combined with other factors can create blood clots, causing blood vessel blockage, increased blood pressure… this is very dangerous.

Increase your intake of fiber-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables. Reduce salt in daily dishes. Replace starchy foods like white rice and white bread with whole grains like brown rice. This also helps improve health. Control your food intake to avoid excessive weight gain.

✅Drink alcohol and beer in moderation

During the holidays, uncontrolled drinking too much alcohol can increase the risk of health problems and also increase the risk of stroke. .

Moderate alcohol consumption is up to 1 drink per day for women and up to 2 drinks per day for men.

✅No smoking or tobacco

Smoking can increase the risk of stroke for many reasons. Nicotine in cigarettes can increase blood pressure, one of the leading risk factors for stroke. In addition, cigarette smoke can also thicken blood vessel walls due to cholesterol accumulation, leading to atherosclerosis, one of the risk factors for stroke. Therefore, you should not smoke cigarettes or tobacco in any form.

✅Maintain scientific and moderate living habits

Make sure your body is always warm, especially in cold weather areas or when going out at night. Wear enough warm clothes, a hat, scarf, gloves and mask, and use oil to keep your body warm.

Avoid staying up late and overworking. Avoid showering after 10 p.m. to prevent colds and the risk of stroke. Focus on going to bed early and making sure you get enough sleep.

✅Comply with the treatment regimen

To stay healthy, you should comply with taking medication every day, on time and according to the prescribed dosage. There are a number of useful methods to help you keep up with this, including setting alarms as reminders, using a tracker or a daily pill dispenser. These measures will help you not forget to take your medicine and ensure you always follow the correct dosage.

✅Maintain an exercise routine

Scientific studies have proven that just 30 minutes of exercise once a day and maintained 5 times a week can reduce the risk of stroke by 25%. Exercise plays an important role in reducing many stroke risk factors including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, depression and stress.

Adults should spend about 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes) per week doing simple exercises. Small daily activities such as walking instead of driving, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, gardening and cleaning the house will help you maintain your health and reduce the risk of stroke.

However, in the northern provinces of our country, the weather around Tet is often very cold, people at risk of stroke should not try to exercise, especially outside. God even walks fast. You should avoid sweating a lot in cold weather, blood vessels can suddenly constrict, which is very dangerous.
