University Medical Center HCMC – Branch 3 (UMC3), formerly a 50-bed medical facility affiliated with the Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy High School was recognized as Traditional Tue Tinh II by Decision 06/BYT-QD dated January 3, 1997, of the Minister of Health.

In 1998, Tue Tinh II Traditional Medicine High School merged with University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), forming the Faculty of Traditional Medicine (FTM). 

On October 18, 2000, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 3639/2000/QD-BYT, officially establishing University Medical Center HCMC (UMC)

University Medical Center HCMC – Branch 3 will increasingly develop and expand with more solid steps,
for a healthy Vietnam with Vietnamese Medicine.

UMC3 is a practice facility directly under  UMP for students and trainees to study and research in the Undergraduate – Postgraduate – PhD programs. field of Traditional Medicine. Each year, the Hospital receives training for hundreds of students from universities around the world such as the US, Denmark, France, Sweden, Korea, Taiwan,…
In addition, scientific research has also been promoted with many grassroots and city-level scientific research projects with high applications in the field of Traditional Medicine.

In the era of information explosion, in order to provide the community with the most accurate medical information on issues related to Traditional Medicine, the Hospital has been operating a system of social media channels. such as: Facebook Fanpage, Zalo Page, Youtube, Tiktok… Programs conducted by a team of experts at the Hospital include simple knowledge, suitable for the community such as Doctors in the kitchen, Health stories, Q&A with experts,… have contributed to improving health care knowledge for the community.

The hospital has applied modern technology in researching, preparing, and producing preparations from traditional medicine remedies into convenient packaging forms such as tea, aluminum bags, orchids,… Currently, UMC3 has over 40 finished preparations produced at the facility in circulation.
